In class: finishing up Samuel Taylor Coleridge's The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.

Homework: please read Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and the excerpt from James Fenimore Cooper's The Prairie by next Monday. Make sure to know the title and authors, as well as qualities of Romanticism within the text. Keep up with the reading. DUE MONDAY Note that if you misplaced your copies of these works, they are on Monday November 21st's blog.

Also you have been given Edgar Allen Poe's The Oval Portrait and Hawthorne's The Minister's Black Veil. Make sure you have read both of these carefully by Thursday December 1.
Introduction to Romanticism test on Friday 2 December. This will cover the following: all titles and authors, the four short stories (we'll review Legend and Prairie on Monday) and Portrait and Black Veil on Thursday); Lyrical Ballads poems Tables Turned and Rime of the Ancient Mariner.
